Everyday Ezra #50

Today, Tuesday the 25th, we went to the park and had a play date with Yotam, someone in my brother's ulpan class.  At the park, there is a big wooden play structure.  It was amazing,  but there were only 4 slides.  There is also a lake where you can go boating, but we did not go boating, we stayed at the park the whole time.  That park was absolutely, hysterically, fun!  That was the fun part for today, signing off, Ezra
Everyday Ezra #49

Today, Monday the 24th, is the last day of school before a very long break of 2 weeks.  We took the sukka decoration with the ushpizin home.  We made a new decoration with sand and a picture of lulav, etrog, hadasim, and aravot.  I also took that home.  We made pizza at home, and it wasn't as good as when we made it in Portland.  I made a few mobiles for sukka decorations.  I'll post soon, signing off, Ezra.
Everyday Ezra #48

Today, Sunday the 23rd, I went to school and made a sukka decoration.  It was a violin with the ushpizin on it.  Then I came home.  After school we went to a park.  It had rope ladders and had chain baskets that you could sit in.  It was fun.  I'll post soon, signing off, Ezra.
Everyday Ezra #47

Last Shabbat, the 22nd, we went to shul.  Gavi and I went to the park, then I went home with Ima and Abba.  Gavi stayed at the park, and then he came back and we had lunch.  Then we had rest time and snack time.  Then Gavi went to Bnai Akiva, and I went to a park with Ma'ayan and Tani.  We stayed there until around 6:30, then we went back home, but Abba got there first.  Then we said havdala and Gavi got home.  We had ravioli and went to bed.  That was the end of the day.  I'll post soon, signing off, Ezra.

Everyday Ezra #46

School is pretty much the same everyday.  So I'm going to tell you about the end of the days.  Monday we went to a carnival at a school.  We got popsicles and balloons and went in a bouncy house.  That was pretty much it.  On Tuesday we did not do anything.  On Wednesday we went to Rafi's house for a playdate.  At the playdate I played on Rafi's DS, it was fun.  Then we went down and saw the Were Rabbit movie.  Then we made chocolates.  Then we had lots of technical difficulties, so I won't tell you about that.  On Thursday we had a playdate in the park with Adam and Isaac.  I rode my scooter to the park.  On Friday we drove to Jerusalem and went to our cousin's house for a little bit.  On the Sabbath day, we went to Yoni and Meesh's house for lunch.  That was it for filling in the week.  I'll post soon, signing off, Ezra.

Everyday Ezra #45

Today was another school day.  It was like all the others I've yet had.  It was fun like all the others.  So, I'm super happy I caught up with everything.  But it might just be time to sign off.  I'll post soon, signing off, Ezra.
Everyday Ezra #44

This post I'll start off with posting a picture of the Russel's viper that I forgot to do from last Friday.
The third day of school was almost the same as the second.  On Thursday after school we went to Ace to get a transformer for our printer.  We also got putty to put on the drip pan for our fridge.  After Ace we went to a pet story called TEN  לחיות

On Friday I went into the normal second grade class.  It was fun.  That's all for now, except I might fit Saturday in.  So on Shabbat we went to shul.  Then we went back home and had kiddush.  A little bit after kiddush we had lunch.  Lunch was very yummy.  Then my Ima and I played a game of Labyrinth.  A few hours later we went to a park.  It was very crowded, so it wasn't very fun.  I'll post soon, signing off, Ezra.

Everyday Ezra #43

Today was the second day of school.  It was pretty much the same as the first day, except we did some different things from the first day.  The coolest things about yesterday is that our lift came.  I'll post soon, signing off, Ezra.

Everyday Ezra #42

This was the first day of school.  This is the schedule: first we say shacharit; then there was a tekes (we don't do a tekes everyday);  then we have aruchat eser; then recess; after recess we went back inside to learn; then back out to recess;  then we came back, learned for half an hour and went home.  That is pretty much what we do everyday except for Friday.  I'll post soon, signing off,
Ezra
Everyday Ezra #41

Today I went to my meet and greet for Avnei Hachoshen.  I am the best behaved boy in my class.  Our teacher read us a story in Hebrew about a bear that didn't want to go to school and sat on a bench with wet paint.  These are the places the other kids in my class are from: Sydney, Toronto, Brazil, England, Oregon (not me),  Russia, New Jersey, and New York.  Toodles, signing off, Ezra.

Everyday Ezra #40

We spent our first Shabbat in Modiin.  It was very fun.  It was also fun because we had a deli lunch.  For the dinner we went to my parents' friends' house.  Their dinner was very yummy.  After I was done with dinner I went downstairs.  Downstairs we played doctor.  I was the patient.  I was in the hospital because I got a bite from a Russell's viper.  I will post soon.  I promise.  But anyways, promises are made to be broken.  Signing off, Ezra.
Everyday Ezra #39

Thursday was not a very good day.  We just brought stuff to this place that I am sitting in right now, our new apartment.  In the evening it was not bad at all, it was very tasty because we went to a bbq at my uncle and aunt's house.  Before and after dinner we played Minecraft.   I'll post again soon, signing off, Ezra.
Everyday Ezra #38

Today we went to see Shakespeare in the Park.  We saw the play "Much Ado About Nothing".  It was seriously, extremely awesome.  It was even in motion, so that you go to different places in the park to see different scenes.  At the end of the play I saw bats, but not as many as at the art fair.  I will post soon, signing off, Ezra.
Everyday Ezra #37

Tuesday wasn't very exciting except for the end.  The end is this: we went to visit a friend of my Ima's.  We stayed there for 15 minutes and then after those 15 minutes, we went to a park.  After the park we went back to their apartment and had dinner.  Dinner was hollow spaghetti with ravioli and sauce.  After that we played with a microphone.  Then we played on a little computer thingamabob.  Then we went home.  I thought that I had a great day.  I'll post soon.  Signing off, Ezra.
Everyday Ezra #36

Monday wasn't very exciting at all.  We just went to Modiin.  Ima and Abba's beds arrived.  Good-bye.
Signing off, Ezra
Everyday Ezra #35

On Sunday we went to a swimming pool at Ramat Rachel.  When we got there, we went to the water slide.  After we went on the water slides about 15 times, we went back and had lunch.  Then we went to the newest pool.  We stayed at the newest pool for around half an hour, 45 minutes.  After we were there, we went back to the water slide.  Then I felt done with the water slide and I went back to the third pool.  Then Gavi came back with the other kids we were with.  We all went back to the third pool.  Then we went back to our chairs. Then the other family left.  We went back the pool for a
little bit.  Then back to the chairs for a little bit.  Then it was time to go back home.  I'll post soon, signing off, Ezra.

Everyday Ezra #34

It has been a long time since I posted so these next few posts will be combined posts.

Last Friday (August 17), we went to our apartment in Modiin.  After the apartment we went to Hasmonaim.  We spent all of Shabbat in Hasmonaim with our cousins.  The next morning my brother and I woke up early then we went downstairs to our parent's room.   After we were done there, we went our and my brother and I played a game of chess.  It was a draw.  Then we had breakfast and went to shul.  After shul, we came home to have lunch.  After lunch, Gavi and I learned a new game called Abalone.  Then my brother and I went to some other kids' house.  It was not very fun.  A little bit after we came back Shabbat was over and it was time for us to leave.  Then we left. Bye bye for now.  Signing off, Ezra.

Everyday Ezra #33

Today it was Abba's birthday.  For his present we made a scavenger hunt, and it led him to a mysterious box in our cabinet.  On it, it said "50 of 50".  It came with a spoon.  When he opened it he found black beans.  Then he started digging.  After he dug out all the beans he found a cardboard: Dark Tower, beer man, Phish, a beetle playing guitar, the Tardis,  2 happy birthday people, a gorilla, a mr. Coke man, a flatiron steak, and a dolphin.

After lunch we went to the Kotel Tunnel Tours.  The tour was done very, very well.  There was even an electric model of the Kotel over many years.  At the end we went through an aqueduct with no water.  At the end we went to a cistern.

Then we went back out of the Old City and had dinner.  At the restaurant we got mixed meat for 2-3 people.  It was all different types of steak.  The steak was very yummy.  My brother and I also had soda.  I had Fanta and my brother had 7up.  When we were all done the waiter gave me and my brother bubbles.

I'll post soon.  Signing off, Ezra.
Everyday Ezra #32

Today we went to Ein Yael.  Ein Yael is a living museum.  It was not a success.  The only fun thing was building a pan flute.  The pan flute was made out of bamboo.  That was pretty much the only fun I had.  The other two things were pottery and archery and making pita.  Making pita had some technical difficulties.  I will post soon.  Signing off, Ezra.

Everyday Ezra #31

The only exciting part about today was going to the art fair.  At the art fair, we bought a wooden helix spinner.
After we were done walking around at the art fair, we went to the concert by Eviatar Banai.  But before we saw the concert, we saw bats, and lots of them.  At least 56.  We did not see the whole concert because it started at 9pm.  That is pretty much it.  Signing off, Ezra.

Everyday Ezra #30

This is my brother with a frog in his hand.
Today we went to a national park Ein Hemed. There I found a pond.  Then my brother and I went to the pond and caught frogs.
This is me and my brother looking for frogs.

After that we went to the crusader farm.  It was over 1000 years old.  After we walked around the crusader farm, we went to a picnic bench and had lunch.  At lunch we said "Isn't it so nice being in nature?" And then we heard speakers.  On second thought, we aren't in nature.  After we ate lunch, my brother and I went down to a stream, and we followed it to the end.  When we came back from the stream, there was another set of little ponds.

After we were done at those ponds, we went back to where we started and went to our apartment in Modiin.  We haven't move in yet, but we did bring some of our duffels, to put some of our stuff in the apartment. While we were there the people with the fridge, washing machine, and dryer came and brought them.

I'll post soon. Signing off, Ezra

Everyday Ezra #29

On Shabbat we went to a walkway and my brother and I went to a playground thingy-ma-bob.  It was very little and kind of weird.  Then we went to a different place, it was also like a playground thingy-ma-bob.  After that we went home, then we legoed.  Then we had lunch.  That was mostly all we did on Shabbat.

Everyday Ezra #28

Friday we didn't do much except we went to Uncle Yoni's house and did some things.  That is the only exciting part about Friday.

Everyday Ezra #27
Today (Thursday) we went to Haifa on a train.  In Haifa we did lots of things.  One of them was going to the science museum called the madatek.  These are some of the things that I did at the madatek:

I lay on a bed of nails;

I lost my body;

I went in a helicopter;

..and did many other things.

Then we took the train back to Modiin and went to a restaurant named Angelos.  I had pizza.  It was very tasty.  After that we went to our future apartment to get the keys.  I'll post more soon.  Signing off, Ezra.

Everyday Ezra #26

Today (Wednesday) we went shopping for school supplies.  We got all of the art materials.  We did not get any of the books.  A few of the art supplies that we got are a big paper carrier and large paper to fit in it and oil pastels.  Not much else happened Wednesday.  I am very sleepy.  I will post soon.  Signing off, Ezra.

Everyday Ezra #25

Today we went to some springs.  At the springs Ima held onto my hands and I dove in.  The only reason I was holding on was because the water was deeper than me.  After that we had lunch.  After that we went to an aqueduct that was built 2000 years ago.  We were able to go into it and we walked through the whole thing.  It was very dark and the water was very, very, very cold.  When you got out, you got up a big ladder and then there was a path that you went on.  Then you followed the path all the way back to where to the tunnel started.  After that we got ice cream.  I got a Cornetto Classic.  After I was finished eating that we went home, and then I had chocolate milk, and then I blogged this blog post.  I'll post soon, signing off, Ezra.
Everyday Ezra #24

Today we went to the Old City.  We went on the Ramparts Walk.  It was on the walls around Jerusalem.  It was very high up, 68 stairs up at first.  From the walls I saw: graveyards, a police station with horses, a windmill, a mall, a wedding, and bar mitzvas.  We saw some stairs and stones.  After that we went to the Kotel and then had lunch.  Then we got ice cream.  I got Coffee and Oreo ice creams. I am ready to fall asleep right now.  Good night and see you later.  I'll post soon, signing off, Ezra.
Everyday Ezra #23

Today we went to Modiin in the morning.  After that we ran errands.  We got appliances: a washing machine, a dryer, and a fridge.  After that we got gas masks and milk.  That's pretty much all I have to say.  I'll post in a few seconds, signing off, Ezra.

Everyday Ezra #22
Today (Shabbat) we went to Yedidya all together.  We were at shul for most of it.  After that, we went home and had lunch.  After lunch, Gavi and I legoed.  After that Ima and I walked to the tayelet.  At the tayelet we saw the old city, the Dome of the Rock, the valley, and the road.  After that it was havdala and we watched some of the olympics.  I noticed one of my front teeth was bleeding a little; it is about to fall out!  Yank!  Twist twist twist!
Signing off, Ezra.
Everyday Ezra #21

Today we just went shopping for Shabbat.  Goodbye.  See ya.  I'll post again soon.

Everyday Ezra #20

Today I went to camp again.  It was the best day so far, and I am not going anymore, which I am also very happy about.  Today we went to the pool.  At the pool Gavi's friend's brother got us a hot cocoa with extra sugar from the vending machine outside of the pool because Gavi and I did not go swimming.  Tonight we are going to go out to dinner at a place called Avazi.  We aren't positive we will go there, but we are pretty sure.  Camp was not very fun, again.  I did not learn anything, again.  At the end of the day we went to art and got tissue paper and pipe cleaner butterflies.  Then when we were about to go home, we got popsicles.  The popsicles were very yummy.  I'll post soon.  Signing off, Ezra.

Everyday Ezra #19

Today the day at camp was much better than the first day.  We thought we were going to the swimming pool today. We went in and changed into swimtrunks, and then we were told to get back and change into regular clothes.  While I was partly changed, I had a small fight.  That made my day because someone tried to push me around, and I punched him hard in the chest.  He pushed me back and then it was over.  I was not hurt.  I am happy that I defended myself.  After that we went back to the class and we "learned" something, but I did not because I already knew it.  Tomorrow I hope I will learn something.  I'll post again soon.  Signing off, Ezra.
Everyday Ezra #18

Today (Tuesday), we were forced to go to camp again.  My brother gave me his watch and it helped me very much to know what time it was.  Today was a little bit better than the first day.

After camp was done, we went to a park in Modiin.  There were very high up slides.  Instead of a short cut to get to the top, there is a long cut that gets you less tired.  It may take longer but it is easier to get to.  I almost got lost the first time getting to the top!  You go up a ladder, then you crawl into the tunnels, and then you need to stay in the green tunnels, and then you get out in a ladder.  After we played on the playground we had a picnic dinner.  I will post about today (Wednesday) in a few seconds.  Signing off, Ezra.

Everyday Ezra #17

Today we went to camp. It wasn't terrific, it was horrific!  First we went on the bus (by ourselves) to the camp.  Then we went to our classroom and "learned": Ima, Abba, Saba, Savta.  I did learn two things: how to eat a roll with chocolate spread inside, and how to write a cursive bet.  Then we went out to recess, and I saw Gavi. The only fun thing was that I was on the stairs to go down, and I said "going down" and I jumped off the stairs into the yard.   After recess, I cried since part of the class went in and I thought it was time to go home, but it wasn't.  At the end of the day I went to the library and painted something and brought it home.  Then we got on the bus to go home.  I'll post soon. Signing off, Ezra.

Everyday Ezra #16

Today was Tisha b'Av.  We watched TV all day.  Mostly the Olympics and played on the iPad.  On the Olympics, there was a little woman who lifted 108 kilos.  She was only 5'4".   This was not a very exciting day.  I'll post soon.  Signing off, Ezra.
Everyday Ezra #15

On the holy Sabbath, when I woke up, I went to wake up Ima.  I said "Ima, we're alone" because Gavi and Abba were so quiet.  Then I went to the living room and discovered that Gavi and Abba were still home.  It was a good surprise.  Then they went to shul.  We had breakfast and went to shul, but we only caught the end of it.  Then we had lunch.  At the end of the day we went back to shul to hear Eicha.  Then Uncle Yoni drove us back and it was kind of exciting getting out of the parking lot.  I'll post soon.  Signing off, Ezra.

Everyday Ezra #14

Today we went to the supermarket.  When we when to the supermarket we passed a music store called clay zemer.  In the supermarket there was very loud impatient man at the checkout counter.

After that we walked to a bakery called bourekas ima.  We bought lots of rugelach, bourekas, and challah.  After that we went home.  I am sorry this is such a short blog post.  I will post again soon.

Signing off, Ezra.

Everyday Ezra #13

Today we went to the bank and the shuk.  The bank was very short.  We also changed some money and got shkalim.  At the bank, my Ima signed something and then we went out.  At the shuk, my brother and I got kippot.  We got onions, apples, kale, cabbage, bread, chummus, burekas, grape juice, couscous, p'titim, flour, pretzels, kindereggs (which you can only find in Israel), and chicken.  We got two chickens, when the butcher cut them up, he cut them up very very fast.

The rat update of last night is awesome.  What happened is, the rat got into the mirpeset sherut.  It crawled around.  My Abba slid one of the glue traps into the mirpeset, and then we closed the door very fast.  I'll post soon.  Signing off, Ezra.

Everyday Ezra #12

Today we went to the Israel Museum.  I spent so much time there, I'm only going to tell you about one section of the museum.  It is archeology.  There was everything you could think of about archeology.  There were mummies, bones, rocks, swords, axe heads, pottery, spear heads, and everything else you could think of (in archeology).  It was amazing to see how they started with clay, then they carved in rocks, then they could use metal and gold.  They made jewelry and swords, helmets, axe heads, and other things that ancient people would make out of metal.

The rat update of today is that last night it crept in and fell into our recycling bag.  Ima took a bigger bag and tied the bag in the bigger bag.  Today we threw the bag with the rat out.  I'll post soon. Signing off, Ezra.

Everyday Ezra #11

Today we went to Modiin and went to the bank. We got a glue trap for the rats.  Then we went to get our health insurance.  During that we played video games, it was very very fun.  After that we went down 2 elevators and went up 4 escalators.  We went to the food court and got some pizza.  The pizza was pretty yummy, even though my Ima's pizza is much yummier.  Then we went down to the parking lot, went home and had some ice cream.  I'll post again soon.  Signing off, Ezra.
Everyday Ezra #10

The night after the day we went to the Biblical Zoo, I spotted a rat on the pipe on our mirpeset.  So we closed the windows.  With one window we closed the tris and opened the window.  Today the rat was on the mirpeset.  In the corner of the mirpeset there are tiles which the rat hid in.  But it came out and climbed the side of the window and the wall.  But it didn't come in.  It was looking for food, but we didn't have any on the mirpeset.  I'll post in a few more seconds.  Signing off, Ezra.

Everyday Ezra #9

I am only going to tell you about the end of my day because that was the only exciting part.  So we walked to place called the tayelet.  At the tayelet, you can see the old city and many other important things for Jews, Muslims, and Christians.  There is also grass where you can run.  But on the other side of the trail, there are trees and one of the trees I saw a lizard like the one at the Biblical Zoo.  I am sorry that this post is so short, but it was only the end of the day.  I will post again son.Signing off, Ezra.
Everyday Ezra #8

Today we went to the Biblical Zoo.   We only got to see half of the animals, and it took us four hours.  When we were there, I saw a wild lizard.  It was about 18 centimeters long!  We also saw in the enclosures kangaroos, a cassuary bird, and pelicans that were bigger than I am!  We also saw flamingos, swans, elephants, and monkeys.  We even saw a chimpanzee that loved a burlap bag, and swung it over one of the monkey bars, and held onto it, but it fell ten feet to the ground, onto a log, without injuring himself.  My brother Gavi and I went to a little pond with fish in it, and we could feed and pet the fish.  I pet a few fish, and my brother pet more. After that we went back to the otters, and had a snack.  On the way to the bathroom, we saw an armadillo, ferrets, and a macaw.  We also saw a huge huge spider that looked white and rubbery.  Ima may never sleep again.  After we came out of the bathroom, we went to the playground.

I will post about today later this afternoon.  But now it is time for lunch.  Signing off, Ezra,

Everyday Ezra #7

Never fear Ezra is here for another episode of Everyday Ezra.  Today we went to a pool near a kibbutz.  There were three pools, but we only went into two.  First we went in the kiddie pool which was only up to your waist.  The only reason we went into the kiddie pool is to get used to the water, after that we went to the third pool.  We stayed there for a long time until my cousin Shalom's lips were blue.  Then we were out of the pool and had a little snack of soy-sauce crackers and oyster crackers and apple.  Then we went back into the kiddie pool.  After that we went back to the big pool.  After that I got a Shokobo (an ice cream bar), and it went all over me.  That night it was Shabbat.  Shimon was at Yoni and Meesh's house too.  Shimon is blind so he has a guide dog named Tahoma.  Dinner was very yummy.  I'll post soon.  Signing off: Ezra.

Everyday Ezra #6

Today I went to Misrad Haklita with my family.  The whole time I played video games. That was very, very fun.  Then we came home and had lunch.  After that we had dinner, which was burgers and fries, at Yael and Ariel's house.  We played Kadjunga with their kids, Eyal and Na'ama.  It was very, very yummy.  I do not know what to write, so this will be a very short post.  I am sorry about that.  I'll post in a few seconds.  Signing off: Ezra.

Everyday Ezra #5

Today it was the hottest day of the heat wave.  This morning we took a bus, and the number of the bus was 7.  We took the bus to an office called Misrad Haklita.  They told us we are going to go there tomorrow morning.  After that we went to the shuk.  We got rice, apples, clothespins, and a pitcher.  After that we went home and had lunch which was pizza.  It was very, very yummy, but not as yummy as the shwarma.

Later today, we're going to meet the landlords of the apartment we want to rent.  I won't have enough time to write about it in this blog because this is before we are going to the house.  So I'll write about it in Everyday Ezra #6.  I'll post again soon.  Signing off: Ezra.

Everyday Ezra #4

I forgot to write this on post #2, but I can tell you that I learned the Hebrew word for sewage.  It is biyuv.

Today my parents made their Israeli bank account.  While they were doing that, my brother and I were playing video games pretty much the whole time.  On the iPad, we were playing: Temple Run, Go Ninja, and War Chess.  They were fun.  After my parents were done with the bank, we went to the food court at the mall and we all got shwarma.  It was very, very yummy and delicious.  You should try it. It is like heaven wrapped in a pita.  After that we came home and had baths and showers.  Now we are all done.  I'll post soon.  Signing off: Ezra.

Everyday Ezra #3

Today I went to the shuk.  I went on the bus to get there.  When we got there we got some cucumbers (aka melafefonim).  We also saw people carrying half a cow.  We got yummy gummies.  We also got garlic and litchis.  After we were done at that part of the shuk we went to a different part of the shuk and got burekas.  We ate our burekas and got slushies.  We drank our slushies.  After a short while Abba came back from a meeting and met us.  Then we all took a cab back home to Saba and Savta's apartment.  Then we came home and met our cousin at the apartment.  I'll blog again soon.  Signing off, Ezra.

Everyday Ezra #2

Today we went to Burekas Ima and went to the grocery store.  We got choco in a bag and some other stuff.  Then we came home and had our burekas.  A little while after that we had lunch.  Lunch for me was pita with tuna inside it.  Gavi's lunch was pita with cheese inside it. Abba's lunch was the same as mine.  Then we walk to the bus stop to wait for Shalom, our cousin.  After he came we went back to Saba and Savta's apartment.  And Shalom had lunch.  After that we played till 6pm.  Then it was time for Shalom to go home.  After dinner we went to ice cream at a gelato place called Pistachio.  I will post soon.  Signing off: Ezra.

Everyday Ezra #1

The move to Israel that I just made is a life changing adventure.  An example of how it is life changing is it is much much hotter than Portland.  There is more kosher food (and most of it is better).  To leave my family in Portland was bitter.  But I was also excited to move halfway around the world because I would have new things to do and a new language and a new everything.  The only thing that wasn't new for me was my parents and my brother.  Now there is a heat wave going on so it is actually hot for the people who live here.  I will have to adjust to the new time zone, and also adjust to the heat here.
